About the Art
Nick Koziol paints using acrylics, found objects, and canvas.
His creative sources are closed-eye visuals experienced during meditation, as well as geometric patterns found in nature. Also fundamental to his work is Feng Shui; these pieces were created to improve the viewer’s relationship with their environment.
As a musician, Nick approaches each painting in terms of a color/sound. He repurposes tools and other found objects to put paint to canvas, rarely using a brush. The textures begin to grow, reminiscent of moss, lichen, and fractal geometry. Nick sometimes incorporates pieces of canvas from previous works, redirecting their energy to give them new meaning.
His paintings and music are created side by side. One process inspires the other. Working through periods of intense focus, Nick finds a creative escape through painting and producing music. He creates his work, late at night, in an old felt factory in Newfane, NY.
You are encouraged to explore the dimensions of color, depth, and texture within his work. Through this exploration, Nick hopes you reconnect with the colors, depths, and textures of the environments you inhabit.
